Trying to set up a stream anyone know what bitrate i should use based on my spec

I am trying to set up obs to stream but i just realised i have been streaming for like a week and the quality is awful, i did not realise how bad it was, i read up on it and i have tried changing the bitrate around currently i am at 2500 bitrate 30fps, i am really only streaming league and wow i did a test which said i could stream at 3500, but i was dropping frames while playing league so i moved it down to 2500 what is the best bitrate to go with my system specs are cpu: i7 3770 @3.40 gpu is a msi gtx 970 psu evga 650w p2 16gb ram, so i should be able to stream at pretty high quality and my internet upload etc is here Ping: 9ms Download Speed: 40.46mbps and upload: 6.72mbps any ideas why it looks so bad and why im lagging while streaming at a higher quality thanks in advance.

If your upload is 6.7 mbps then you will be able to stream at 2500 bit rate. I think you need to make sure that you are not uploading anything else on your network, such as...

2500 bitrate 30 fps is about right for unpartnered streams, if you go any higher your viewers may begin to lag and be unable to watch the stream if they have a bad connection. 2500 bitrate does not look that bad, obviously it will never look as good as YouTube quality, no stream will ever look that good. I stream at 2500 bit rate and I have had no complaints on lag, and no one complain about quality.

I don't think my upload speed will support a 2500 stream though when i tried last night i was getting dropped frames a lot

If your upload is 6.7 mbps then you will be able to stream at 2500 bit rate. I think you need to make sure that you are not uploading anything else on your network, such as uploading a video to YouTube etc. Because when you stream at 2500 kbps, you are using 2500 out of your 6700 kbps. I think you need to diagnose your network and then see how it is. You could also try streaming at an even lower bit rate, like 1500 and see how it is
