So I'm trying to build a low-budget PC for my younger brother, focusing on low-end gaming -namely Terraria and Minecraft. I have a build picked out, however since I've never built a PC before, I figured I'd come here and ask for an experienced opinion.

The build is as follows:
-G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
-Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX 5.1 PCIe Sound Card with 600 ohm Headphone Amp
-Seagate Desktop HDD ST500DM002 500GB 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
-SAMSUNG 18X Internal DVD ROM Half Height model SH-118DB
-XFX ONE R-Series Radeon HD 5450 A12 DirectX 11 ON-XFX1-DLX2 2GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 Low Profile Ready Deluxe Edition Video Card
-GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
-AMD Athlon 5350 Kabini Quad-Core 2.05 GHz Socket AM1 25W AD5350JAHMBOX Desktop Processor AMD Radeon R3
-Couldn't figure out my needed wattage, so power supply is open for suggestions.

I'd like to keep the build as close to 300$ as possible, but a bit over won't hurt.

Solution
no worries.
I think an AMD APU build would probably make the most sense in this case? but not really sure? maybe a skylake i3 using the integrated graphics? that way if you tossed a cheap H110 board in there, he could always toss a better one in down the line? not really sure. id just go read a bunch of guides and see whats up
its really nice u want to give your brother a computer but for 300 dollars, that pc gets outdated really fast, without upgrade paths.

so its better to....
A) buy him a console
b) ask ur parents for/otherbrothers for a 450 dollar pc gift.

c) go with your build....

i doubt that pc can even run league of legends 60fps

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not so worried about it getting outdated. As stated, it's there to run Terraria and Minecraft and that's about it, he can buy his own if he wants an upgrade. I was just asking about compatibilities and so on. Just getting him a starting point.

Yep, that's part of the reason I'm building it instead of getting a prebuilt.

Thanks for the guide, couldn't find one for the life of me. :)

Little bit over budget, definitely nothing fancy, but it does include a discrete card that's a modest bump up from the Pentium's integrated graphics.
