Random fps drops in games

Hi,
for about a couple of months now I have been getting random fps drops (to around 1-20fps) on almost all games even when I am getting a very high constant frame rate otherwise. The frame drops normally occur in cpu intensive games such as Arma 3, Arma 2 and dayZ, but I also sometimes notice fps drops in other games.
My specs are:
I7 4790k
Gtx 970
Asus ranger VII mobo
2Tb seagate HDD
If anyone could help i would be so grateful,

Run Intel XTU in the background (enable all hardware monitors and set the graphics time for 10 minutes). When FPS drops for several seconds, check what happened. If the CPU doesn't throttle, then it probably is something else.

It's probably normal. Remember that FPS can be affected by server performance as well, especially in Arma (I know this all too well).

Try closing down background processes that might be using resources that might otherwise be used by your games, such as antiviruses, torrent clients, and the like.

If you're having doubts, the first thing I would do is monitor hardware temperatures while in game. If there's a real problem, your hardware might be throttling down because it's getting too hot.

Thanks for the replies guys, Im sure its not normal lag because my frames are constant and drop to like 1-20fps for sometimes even 2 minutes, even when I play with other people no one ever experiances any frame drops. I also checked for malware before but it didn't find any and I am running windows 8. My temps are also fine when playing the games which is weird. I am also using a cooler master CX750 and I have not overclocked anything
