New power supply. Went from 750 to 1200w. New MB. Roommates left wire to old power supply in and plugged it into new power supply. SATA cable lead to my SSD. Turned computer on showed short protection. Turned off after 1/4 of second. Check wire and it has an open. Replace wire computer doesn't register SSD drive. Also intermittently doesn't boot past BIOS.

Hey there.

It is possible that you might have fried it, but in order to confirm that you should try a few things. I'd suggest trying the SSD with a different SATA port and different cables, or even better - with a different computer, to see if it's recognized. If no system can see it, then it's probably done for. :(
As for not being able to go past BIOS/UEFI, it normal since the drive with the OS is not recognized at all. If you are able to use the BIOS/UEFI without an issue, this is at least some good news about the motherboard.

Hope that helps.
