Motherboard: Lenovo K300

The Lenovo first came with a Pentium E5700 and 2 x 2GB DDR3 Samsung PC3 10600 RAM. I was able to use a pair of Team Group 1333MHz sticks to total 8GB RAM.

Now, I have a Core2 Quad Q8400 in the system and it does not POST with the Team Groups. It can only boot with the original Samsung sticks of RAM. Can someone help me by explaining why this is?

I've already tried clearing the CMOS a few times.

I believe the team group sticks are newer, circa 2011 and made with high density memory chips that aren't compatible with the socket 775 mobos. For 775 I normally suggest GSkill's NT series of value DRAM which use low density memory chips that are compatible. You could check for a BIOS update and see if that might help

The thing is, I was able to use the Team Group sticks with the Pentium E5700, just not with the Core2 Q8400.
