Http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/b00l5gzg5c/ref=olp_pro... I currently want a better graphics card because having an ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 SUCKS! Anyway I have a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ and 2.00 GB of ram (1.87 GB usable). If it won't work then what card do you recommend? Also the motherboard model is a 0A64h http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/hewlett-packard-0a64h-s... just in case.

If you have $1000 to spend, buying a GPU for your old system is a complete waste of money. Whatever GPU youd buy (that you would want to use in a eventual new system) would be massively overpowered.

FOr $1000 this will do very well for you:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-6400 2.7GHz Quad-Core Processor ($179.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: MSI Z170-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($114.99 @ B&H)
Memory: G.Skill...
I'd like to point out that I bought that same CPU in 2005, and replaced it in late 2006. It's more than 10 years old. Even with more RAM and a fast video card, it's not up to the task of playing recent games, or even browsing modern websites - even web video (e.g. Youtube 1080P) will likely be choppy regardless of how you upgrade that PC.

New AMD and nVidia CPUs (for instance the AMD A8 7600) cost about the same as that video card, and include integrated graphics which are faster.

I recommend against investing much money in that system, unless you have no other options.

If you don't, get something used, and try not to spend more than $25-40.

In this case you would need a motherboard, CPU, memory, PSU, so in reality the only things that may be useable from your old system are the hard drive, case, and CD drive if you have one.

Depends what you want to spend and want to do.

Rogue Leader I want to play games like MGSV. The Budget is up to $1000. Before this thread I was looking for gaming pcs but I decided to ask this question to see if I should of gotten the GPU first and then work my way up.

There's not a snowflake's chance that your Athlon64 will be able to run that game, even with a very fast video card. The minimum system requirements for this game are:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 (3.40 GHz) or better; Quad-core or better
RAM: 4 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650

The i5 (minimum required CPU) is somewhere in the range of five to eight times faster than the CPU you have, in a best-case scenario.

The GT730 is only half as fast as a GTX650, the minimum required video card.

Ah, not a bad way of approaching it.

What needs to be included in a $1000 build? Do you have an unused Windows license, or need one? Monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers?
