Hey
I am on a super low budget (AUD) and since new pc parts are expensive af i want to build one from used parts (except for the hdd and psu obviously). i was originally gonna go for a Q6600 8gb ddr3 500w psu gtx 560 for $333 all up (AUD) but i don't know if Q6600 will last bare minimum for much longer.
pc needs to be able to play gta v, rust, the forest. so any suggestions i'd appreciate it.
Also it just needs to last a few years until i get a job (when i finish school) to build a Skylake r9 390x combo (orwhateverishotatthetime)
cheers guys

HexGaming5,

Looking at the prices of individual components, in my view, the results would be better and with less fuss for less money if you can find the right used system and upgrade it. How about:

Dell Optiplex 990 Tower Quad Core i5 3.10GHz, 4GB Ram, 250GB HDD Cheap Windows10 > AU $200

And to this you add a used GTX 750 Ti and if possible ,a 120GB SSD.

Dell Precision T3500 Workstation, Intel Xeon W3530 2.80ghz, 12gb Ram For Sale! > AU $225

For a similar cost to a Q6600 system, the CPU is two or three generations newer and uses DDR3 instead of DDR2 RAM. And there's no fuss with parts compatibility, assembly, wiring, and so on. Comparing performance: an Optiplex / i5-2400 on Passmark benchmarks has a CPU score up to 6680 whereas the highest Q6600 rating in any system is 4932. A Precision T3500 with W3530 has a CPU score up to 5613. The Optiplex i5 would be better at gaming, but you there are some very good performing CPU's for the T3500-for example a Xeon X5687 4-core @ 3.6 /3.86GHz. which scores up to 8586- about AU $130. So, a year of so from now, changing up the CPU can makes quite a difference whereas an LGA775 system runs out of upgrades quickly.

There are lot of worthwhile Dell Optiplex and Precision systems for reasonable with LGA1366 CPU's that are reliable, quiet, and decent performers. The two systems mentioned were the result of searching for about three minutes.
