Hi folks,
I'm upgrading my RAM from 6GB to 16GB and trying to determine what to get from here:

https://www.pccasegear.com/category/186_538/memory/all-ddr3-memory

for the motherboard which is a GA-X58A-UD3R: http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3449#sp

Is (2 x) G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3:

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/13931/g-skill-ripjaws-f3-12800cl9d-8gbrl-8gb-2x4gb-ddr3

compatible with a ga-x58a-ud3r motherboard?

If not what would be a compatible alternative?

Thanks.

*I need memory with a max height of 4cm as I have a CoolerMaster V10 cpu cooler which partly rests over where the memory slots are and I currently have G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL8T-6GBRM which are 4cm high and fit under fine.

It is preferable to use a 6 x 4 GB kit (all DIMM's from the same kit). This ensures that the memory is not only compatible with the motherboard/CPU but each DIMM is also compatible with other DIMM's.

Using individual DIMM's not from the same kit may cause difficulties in getting the system to run (stably) due to variations in memory characteristics. Every DIMM has unique characteristics. In order for two or more DIMM's to work together, their memory characteristics have to be similar.

DIMM's from the same kit have been tested to ensure compatibility with each other (their characteristics are similar).

DIMM's that are not from the same kit may not work altogether. So be prepared to spend time and money...

Thanks Brispuss, I have actually already used that and individually searched for each one listed there in the pccasegear page and there was no match at all.

The same occurred in searching for matching compatible Corsair memory determined through http://www.corsair.com/en-au/memory-finder

The motherboard isn't listed at http://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search/Options but is here
http://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search/discontinuedmodels?DeviceType=7&Mfr=GIG&Line=GA-X58A-UD3R&Model=61184 as discontinued. None of the discontinued were available at pccasegear.

I thought maybe though that the ones not listed there might be backwards compatible otherwise it looks like pccasegear don't sell any compatible memory and I will have to try to find another reputable online Australian seller.

Thanks Galeener, I actually already checked that list (I downloaded the pdf) and the only 4GB module listed appears to be unavailable within Australia. The list isn't in any way definitive or comprehensive as it doesn't include the G.Skills Ripjaws memory that I currently have installed.

Thanks Joshyboy82 the place that I did find that did list compatible RAM is ramcity https://www.ramcity.com.au/upgrade/gigabyte/ga-x-series-motherboard/ga-x58a-ud3r/14550?df=f7&f7=4GB&rf=f7&dfv=4GB

They don't have any 3 stick sets except of 3x2GB. According to the mb manual I could put in 6 modules of 4GB which would be triple channel so I could get 3 x (2x 4GB) Crucial 8GB (2x 4GB Kit) PC3L-12800 Unbuffered 240-pin DIMM https://www.ramcity.com.au/buy/crucial-2gb-pc3l-12800-unbuffered-240-pin-dimm/CT25664BD160BA~KIN1-GGd-00-180580 giving me 24GB of RAM.
