I just ordered a new 1TB desktop internal hdd for my PC and i already have a 500gb internal hdd.
But before i plug in that new hdd i want to make things clear. I just want to use that drive as a normal storage drive cause my old hdd is almost full.
So can i use it that way, i don't want to configure Raid or anything. So what i wish to do it is creat 4 partitions including 1 primary partition and just use it.
System is on the previous hdd so i won't install windows on it.
System specs :
Cpu. Intel g3220
Mobo. Gigabyte h81m-s1
Ram. 4gb ddr3
Hdd. 500gb sata

Solution
so what are you now asking?

plug in SATA cable to drive & motherboard, plug in power cable from PSU to drive. power up system.
then you got a new drive that will be ready for formatting/partitioning how ever you want.
So you want to keep you current drive as your Windows drive correct? Then all you have to do is put the new drive in your system and boot up on your old drive and then use Windows Disk Management to create the partitions and format them on your new drive any way you want them to be.

Exactly. Separate partitions so that all are visible under windows explorer.

Yes i already partitioned the 500gb disk into two drives C: & D:
I want it to be like this
500gb
1. 250gb (primary)
2. 250gb (logical)

1TB
1. 250gb (primary)
2. 250gb (logical)
3. 250gb (logical)
4. 250gb (logical)

It's just that partitioning solves no real problem. And possibly introduces other size issues.

For instance:
Partition the 1TB into 3 x ~300GB partitions. Games, Docs, Music.
The Game partition is currently at 250GB used (50GB free). The Docs partition is only 60GB used, leaving 240GB free in that partition.
You wish to install a new game, but it is 60GB. Oops. No can do.
Unless you install it in the Doc or Music partition. Thereby negating the concept of different partitions for different uses.

If, OTOH, those were simply top level folders, you'd have zero issue installing that 60GB game in the "Games" folder.
