I am using my desktop for around 6 years, last year I updated my system. Now I have 4gb DDR3 RAM, gigabyte g41m combo, intel i3 processor, 1tb wd green HDD.

Recently I came across a problem of random restart. Desktop randomly restart. Sometime keyboard stops working and I was unable to type anything until I restart my system. Sometime my pc even lag while I play any video (online or offline).

I took it to repair shop and checked there even after 4 hours of continuous usage everything was fine. I played game, watch movie everything I can without internet connection. While I was there I haven't found any such problem. Video was playing smoothly, keyboard was working perfectly and no restart.

I even check my processor at restart but it's always on normal temperature. No heating. '

Anyone can suggest me what can I do now?
Sorry for my bad english.

Your English is pretty good.

Murphy's law states that when you take your computer to a technician, the problem will magically go away.

It is possible that you have power problems at your home. Maybe your voltage is slightly lower than at the show or maybe it spikes or dips while you're using it and your power supply can't cope.

Hi there BeADev,

Unfortunately, similar restarts could be caused by many things.

Do you get some sort of an error message?

My suggestion would be to try several things.
- Test your RAM. There are some third party tools that can do that. In case you have more than one stick, you can try running your system with only one RAM stick at a time. If nothing happens, try using only the other RAM stick.
- You can test your HDD as well. You can run both short and extended WD's DLG tests: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=qBMwQJ
If there is something wrong with the drive, it may be a good idea to back up the data stored on it.
- Go to your MOBO's website and update all the drivers.
- I believe you can run some stress testing as well.
