How to clear space on HDD without an os

Ok so i have a new PC, however i transfered the HDD from my old one, it has no OS. However, im. unsure if it has enough space left for an os, the os im getting is whatever they have at SM North Edsa in the Philippines, I've only seen a windows 8.1 which requires 20 GB. I dont have an extra laptop or PC so I cant install linux, Please help!

There is no need to clear space on the drive until you have the OS.

And unless there are multiple partitions on that drive, everything on that single partition will be wiped out during the OS install.

So when I try to install the os it wipes the hard disk, essentially removing all my files and making space for the OS?

Oh well that. sucks :p It will be a pain. having to download 900gb on a 100kb/s connection... well anyways Thanks!!
