Hello everyone,

I live in the Netherlands and have a tight budget of max €540 (Pretty much the price of the skylake build).
I came up with two builds, one consisting of an i3 4160 and the other one of an i3 6100.
The haswell is the cheaper build by ~€15 but I was wondering which one would be better for the price?

I will use the pc for browsing the web, watching (Full)HD videos on Youtube and playing games as Minecraft and CS:GO, Rocket League and other games that aren't too demanding.

So which one would be the better investment?

ps: Keep in mind that the prices are marginally higher in the Netherlands.

Haswell

Skylake

Thanks in advance.

Solution
All else being equal, I'd definitely spend €15 more on Skylake, for a lot of reasons.

-Skylake is 5-10% faster per clock, clocked higher, and hyperthreading is more effective on it. The 6100 is a good bit faster.

-Haswell motherboard production is being phased out, so replacement boards will be more expensive if you ever need one

-Socket 1151 still has unreleased CPUs. It will likely receive two more generations of chips for you to upgrade to later

-Skylake draws less power, produces less heat, will be quieter under the stock cooler

-Skylake iGPU has more features than Haswell's, and even if you're not using it for most things, you have it on tap for things like Quicksync
