Hi Guys,

just encountered this problem today, when watching video (youtube or movie) after 5 to 10 mins, the pc will shut down.
the fans, hdd, video card light, cpu fan are working but when tried the power switch, the pc wont turn on and the power switch wont light.

something more strange is, after switching off everything, and wait for 5 mins, i can turn on the power switch, the power switch light is on, and the pc can boot.

now i am typing this, in a moment i will try watching video again to see if it will shut down or not.

do you guys have any idea which component is faulty? thank you.

my specs:

intel core i5 4670 3.4 ghz 6mb
msi b85m g 43 motherboard
kingston 8 gb ram
cooler master 311 blue usb 3.0 casing
xigmatex xcp a500 500w psu
asus hd 7770 1gb ddr 5 video card

Solution
It may have many factors i suspect on faulty PSU or motherboard. Even do if your card overheat still you would be able to boot it up normaly after it crash.

I always had to wait a few minutes before restarting to allow it time to cool down. Then I just put an oscillating fan on the side with the cover off til I could afford a new card. This was years and years ago mind you. PSU or mobo may well be the culprit also.

thank you all for the inputs, in the end it was a faulty motherboard, which quite surprised me as i thought MSI was a good brand,
and it didnt manage to live past 3 years.
