No, if anything the FX 6300 is probably worse than your i3.

I think the FX 8320 should be better yes.
But whats even better than that would be an i5 4xxx or i5 6xxx.
Of course the rest of the system matters as well....but if you're only comparing CPU to CPU, then your i3 isnt quite as powerful as the FX 8320.

an i3 2120 is socket 1155 so you can upgrade to any gen 3 i3, i5, i7. Newegg has a i5 3550 for $200, I would do that before swapping out motherboards or switching over to amd. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-3550-vs-AMD-FX-8320

Only if motherboard is compatible, bios wise. Until we know what board they have, recommending a CPU is near impossible.
