Hello! I've decided to save up for a new motherboard + CPU combo.

I'm getting an Intel 6600k cpu, What would be a good motherboard for this? I already have a Noctua D14 CPU fan from my older build and I'm thinking of starting to delve into overclocking with this one.

I'm gonna reuse my old GA GTX 650 TI on this until I can save up for a GA GTX 970(Windforce possibly).

This rig will be for gaming, emulation, and some FL Studio/Cubase/Photoshop work.

I also plan to at one point install 2 more HDDs (Currently have 1 HDD and one SSD).
Lastly, my budget maxes out at about 200-250 euros.
So, what are my best options?

It's the at high end of the spectrum until you start getting into $600+ boards.

Depending on what bios version it comes with, you may definitely need to consider updating it as there have been some very important releases made. It's not difficult to do, takes little time, and this board comes with a fail-safe bios (aka Dual BIOS) in case the install should go awry. If it does need an update, I would encourage you do do through the BIOS with a flash drive and not to use Gigabyte's @BIOS Windows-based updater.

I see. Thanks for posting your experience. That costs around 140 euros here (Greece).
Since my budget is about 250 euros I was wondering what would be the most reliable one at that price point.
In other words is there some model that would give me the maximum quality and reliability at 250 euros?

My current mobo (GA Z68P-DS3 rev 2.0) started behaving weirdly lately and my tech guy friend told me that I was being cheap when I build that PC (that mobo cost about 95 euros). He told me for the stuff I do on my PCs I should get at least a 200+ euro one next time.

This one is around 220 euros here so it seems right for my budget.
Is this considered a high end board?
I read somewhere that the ASUS mid-range boards have had some problems lately.
Should I expect super important BIOS updates? (I've never updated BIOS before and I've heard it can get messy.)

This seems to be the best option at the moment though.

I see. Could you recommend a tutorial for updating with a flash drive?
If you can't, no prob, I'll look around (-:

By the way, kind of off topic but would my noctua dh-14 keep the 6600k cool? my 2500k idles at about 32C and 40 during gaming...

Long story short, you download the update onto a flash drive, reboot, select QFlash and direct it toward the drive, let it do it's thing (takes like 2-3 minutes), and reboot again. And you're done.

In the event that you do purchase this board, and it does require an update, I would happily give you a more detailed tutorial with links and stuff. Feel free to message me.

I see. Well, I might get it sometime this year.
I'll look around a bit more but this one seems right for me.
By the way, would a DDR3 memory work on it or would I have to get new memory too?

Sadly, no. You would have to buy DDR4.

Well I guess I'll save up for a completely new pc and make a dual PC workstation/gamestation.
Maybe I'll keep my retro emulated stuff on my old one and all the newer games on the new one.
I'd hate to sell my 2500k anyway, I love that CPU!
