My samsung SSD's random write (IOPS) bad on both drives

Hi everyone,

a short while ago I had to reinstall windows (windows 10 64bit) and have noticed my SSD's running oddly. Well my system seems slower when opening software.

Samsung magician says both drives have the latest firmware and I have tried various optimizations via samsung magician.

One is a samsung 840 which has my OS on and my secondary is a samsung 840 evo which I use for games.

Can anyone please advise how I can fix this? I have tried the performance restoration tool which can only be used on the evo anyway but this gets to 98% but stops oddly.

I don't use the Magician Tool for benchmarking, I don't trust it. I prefer AS SSD Benchmark. Anyway...

The screen shots you posted look like Rapid Mode is working for both of them. They both show 4000+MB/s which is not physically possible without Rapid Mode.

You may not have the option, but if you look at the data you posted -- rapid mode is being used.

Magician says Rapid mode on accelerates one SSD, even if the system has more than one supported SSD. Very strange...

Is there better software I can accurately check these SSD's to see if they are performing as they should be? I still do not understand my Random Write speeds being so low.

Pretty much the same, disabling rapid mode has not helped. Any further ideas?

From Samsung..."TRIM is a facility by which the OS can notify the SSD when data is either marked for erase or no longer valid. TRIM helps to make Garbage Collection more efficient by preparing invalid data for deletion."

Go to the "Defrag and optimize drives" setting and press "optimize." Another thing that you can try is opening a CMD prompt in Admin mode and type in: Winsat Formal. This will run an assessment of your PC and help optimize it for use with your SSD.

Tried both of them, the trim runs weekly on my system anyway. There has been very little improvement. I am still getting 19135 out of a possible 62000 on IOPS...

I don't use the Magician Tool for benchmarking, I don't trust it. I prefer AS SSD Benchmark. Anyway in regard to improving actual performance..... "garbage collection" happens during the drives downtime so you may see additional improvement overnight. I also recommend using an unallocated partition for over-provisioning instead of just keeping some free space in your system. Also, erasing and disabling your page file may help and make sure that your advanced system setting is set for best performance. Good luck.

Thanks Muniz, have tried AS SSD, it seems to give me results that make more sense, not overblown overly high results.

However as the IOPS is my issue where do I see that on AS SSD?

Is this even a healthy score?
