Hi there!

I'm looking for a gaming laptop and am seeking advice for which to choose. I'm in somewhat unusual circumstances since I am living in Spain and would like to buy one from the country (for warranty reasons), therefore limiting me from buying from websites such as Newegg, Bestbuy... etc (right?) I might consider from other countries though if buying from Spain limits me significantly enough.

Specifics:
1. Preferably under or around $500
2. Decent gaming performance
3. Preferably a screen of 15.6"
4. I play a mix of games and would like a laptop which works well with all kinds of games. Examples include Europa Universalis 4, Mount and Blade:Warband and I would like to be able to play games such as Dark Souls III but I'm not sure how realistic that is for my price range
5. I'm not too picky on battery life, it doesn't mean much to me
6. No I do not want a desktop
7. Windows 10

Also, I found this laptop and wanted some feedback on whether it looked any good: (first one on the list- Acer Aspire)

Any advice at all is really helpful and thanks in advance!

There was an Acer with nvidia 940m on sale last week. Lemme see if it's still on sale.

Yup, here we go. $489. i5, 15.6" 1080p screen, 8GB RAM, 1 TB HDD. Personally I wouldn't get it, but it's about the only "gaming" laptop you can get for sub-$500. It edges out the AMD options on most games.

In that price range your best bet would be something with AMD inside. Preferably something at least with an A8 chip with R5 or even better, R7 graphics on die. This kind of laptop should fit in the price range and will play the 2 first games listed. I don't think Dark Souls III would be playable.

you can forget dark souls 3 within that price range.
all you can do is hope that a laptop with that price range is able to place games like league of legends on 60fps on medium.
also theres a big chance your laptop will get slow within 1-2 years.

and yes that laptop looks fine.

Would increasing my budget up to $700 make a difference worth the extra money or would it be a fairly minimal difference?

If it is worth it, any suggestions of a laptop of that range?

Ah I see. One last thing: Would getting a desktop at $500 instead of a laptop increase the quality significantly? For instance, would it be able to handle Dark Souls III?

If you do most of your gaming at home you are far better off with a gaming Desktop. I have a decent desktop, PS4 and a cheap laptop which I play games on via Steamlink/Remote play. Streaming games has its limitations but on a decent home network the visual quality still destroys what you'd get with a cheap gaming laptop.

The laptop has an AMD APU in it so its capable of light gaming if I am away from home too.
