For Architectural rendering, what should I upgrade from my computer? I use mostly AutoCAD, Revit, 3D Max.

My current computer is really slow:

Processor: Intel (R) Core(TM) 2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.5 GHz
Memory: DDR2, 8 GB (4 x 2GB)
Graphic: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220

Motherboard:

Manufacturer Dell Inc.
Model Name: 0N826N
Model Revision: A03
Chipset name: Intel p35/g33/g31
Chipset Rev: A2
SouthBridge: Intel 82801IR (ICH9R)

I have Windows 7 right now, but I wanted to see if I should upgrade hardware first then upgrade my window.

I mean, that pc is getting real long in the tooth. It will still run those programs, but you should really consider getting a new build in the near future. The only thing that is worth putting money into for that build is a better gc and an ssd to speed up rendering speeds. It's not worth investing in ddr2 at this point, if it was I would recommend more ram as well. Same goes for the processor, you won't see a drastic performance boost with the higher up core 2 quads, you would however notice a drastic difference if you were using a brand new build.
