helped a friend build his pc through skype using a msi gtx 970 gaming, i5 4460 and hes using one stick of 8gb ddr3 from his old rig, hes cleared cmos(curious if that would do anything) and im not sure what all to try. his psu is a corsair cx850m(yes i know low quality) its out of his old pc as well. hes trying to get video via hdmi cable which is good and working.

his motherboard is a asrock h97m Pro4, the ram is this i believe http://www.adata.com/en/dram/feature/152

Solution
in the audio icon set the output device to amd or nvidia hdmi if he wants the sound to come out his tv. if it set to speaker the audio will come out his headphones.

ok we have all the problems figured out. however one thing were not sure on, he currently has a problem where he cant wear a headset, so before he had his sound running through his tv and would use his microphone to speak, for some reason he cant get audio to go through his tv, even if he sets the tv for default as playback he will not hear anything, however he does get audio through his headset just fine. any thoughts?
