Another day, another Mac problem. I haven't backed up in over a month, because Time Machine keeps saying there's no space. It's trying to back up to a 1TB WD My Passport Drive which is currently too full. Here's the thing though, Time Machine is supposed to delete old back ups when this happens so why is it decided not to do it?

My Mac has less than 500GB of data on it (it's only a 500GB drive) so there's plenty of room if Time Machine would actually delete old stuff

there'll be a setting somewhere for how long to keep things for, find it, adjust it. If you have for instance installed and uninstalled several large games, or many large files, they will be in the backup even if deleted as it is a backup and it has to be able to get you to the point that they were installed at.

There's no options for anything. Just what to include/exclude, backup on battery power and notify after old backups are deleted.

The reason it ran out of space in the first place is because it wasn't deleting old backups even though it says old backups will be deleted when disc is full

Ended up formatting the drive and started over.

There are no configure options anywhere in Time Machine
