I am trying to sort out a problem with a friend's PC. IF the PC is switched off at the mains, it does not start Windows without running the start up recovery tool EVERY time. Please can anyone offer any advice!?
If you shut Windows down without going through normal shut down, you can run into this kind of problem. If that accidentally should happen to me, I'd restore from a recent backup I've made to an external hard drive. If this person doesn't have one, he should consider this one of the many many reasons he should.
Do you shutdown properly before turning off the main power?
Yes, as far as I can see, that is done. However, I am wondering if it was shutdown at some point, whilst a Windows update was downloading and this has caused a loop??
