So basically today my new pc parts came (yay!) I bought an amd 8350 and gtx 970 asus strix. Since setting it up I've had countless problems on the boarder of chucking it out the window.. First of all I couldn't get any signal out put to my monitor resented the cmos battery about 7 times then suddenly it worked. I went to install the drivers and now the pc crashed and restarted while it was installing and I have no signal to my monitor nor my keyboard and mouse are working. My cousin is working and everything so I have no clue what has happened. It went to a black screen and then no signal.

Please help...

AMD 8350
Asus strix gtx 970
500w cross air psu
8gram
Asus mobo m5a97.

let me guess, its this one: http://www.corsair.com/en-au/cx-series-cx500m-modular-atx-power-supply-500-watt-80-plus-bronze-certified-modular-psu

its tier 4 on the psu list http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

Built down to a low price. Not exactly the most stable units ever created. Very basic safety circuitry or even thin gauge wiring used. Not for gaming rigs or overclocking systems of any kind. Avoid unless your budget dictates your choice.

it may be cheap but it can't feed your system the power it wants consistently. Could explain your blank screen,. GTX 970 + CPU want more power than its willing to give

Do you have latest bios? https://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/M5A97_R20/HelpDesk_Download/
Bios update might help stability

My psu is this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004XG6I1W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I only have it as it was from my old one and didn't haven enough for a new one. So might be that also it will be sound like a dumb question but how do I update the bios if my pc doesn't have any picture?

I had a amd 6350 and r9270 and it worked fine with that psu I know not as demanding as my new parts even though the gtx is only 125w I think. Is there any other solutions?

well, usb devices ran out of power too, as they stopped working. GPU didn't display an image. It all looks like an absence of energy to me but maybe someone else has a better idea. I let them answer..

Did you give me best answer by mistake? I can fix it that if so?

Yes I did sorry, I'm going to buy a new one ill have it by Sunday so I'll let you know if that was the problem. Would 600w be okay or do I need a bit more?

don't base purchase of PSU on watts alone, you need efficiency rating too. Try to get a good brand/model off that psu chart and you won't go wrong. 600 is probably overkill but it gives you room to upgrade in future,

Don't need t1 really, its op for your pc, but anything above T4 is good: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

I fixed best post..

I don't need PSU I have, its just what shop put in as my system can run SLI but never will. Mine uses less than what yours might. I didn't have a choice, its smallest they included.

should go to sleep, just said RAM instead of PSU :)

Thanks for the quick response the light is solid. How am I supposed to do the drivers if I can't get video output?

hmm, the logic burns :)

have you tried different cable connections for monitor? does monitor have a on screen menu you can select the signal from? can you reset monitor to defaults for instance. just curious if we looking at wrong end of the picture (so to speak).
