So im buying two nvidia pascal in June for two pcs in or home. my gpu is a i5 3570k oc to 4.20 8gig and my wifes is a gateway moto i5 760 8gig. now i known that both the i5 760 and the i7 860 are going to bottleneck theirs no way round that but i cant afford a new moto for my wife if we'er buying two gpus in june. so i was thinking i can upgrade to a i7 760 and decrease the bottlenecking a bit. Their running about 70 bucks on ebay is it worth it?

All so to add im not going to 4k im satying with 1080p atm

The only difference between the two CPUs is hyperthreading, they are literally identical in every other way eg. clockspeed, cache. On some newer titles, hyperthreading might offer an appreciable boost, but in a lot of games there really isn't going to be much difference between the two. You're probably better off grabbing an aftermarket cooler and overclocking the i5 760 if you want a more consistent performance boost and can't afford to move to a newer platform.

maybe you can save just a bit more and buy this used http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i5-2500-Quad-Core-Processor-Cache/dp/B004FA8NNW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1461976074&sr=8-1&keywords=i5+2500. at least it wont be as bad as the i5s and the i7s u listed. pascal isnt coming for another 2-3 months so i think its worth a wait

The OP would also need a new motherboard as well, LGA 1156 was a short lived socket that only supported first generation Core series processors, with the Core i7 8xx CPUs being the best available on that socket.
