GTX 770 2Gb vs GTX 7970 Ghz edition 3Gb

Title is self explanatory, which performs better??

Mostly playing CSGO at the moment but planning to move onto other games such as GTA V and Crysis 3

If i were to chose one of those two today i'd get the 7970, because of the 3GB of VRAM. I hope that you're getting a decent price on those two.

I'd say 770 as both GPUS should only be on medium through high on taxing games like GTA5/CRYSIS 3 and the 770 will keep min fps higher at those settings, my buddy has one and with his slight OC his results are way higher than reference benchmarks that you see on tech sites.

Also keep in mind you're definitely looking at older/used GPUS, go with the one that has been/will be running cooler which should help with overall longevity.

BTW the 7970 is not GTX, its an AMD card. but i digress.
the Radeon R9 280X is the 7970.
GTX 770 and R9 280X are almost the same in performance.
GTX 770 = 2GB
R9 280X = 2GB
Radeon HD 7970 = 3GB
i would go for the 7970 because GTA V really likes its VRAM

The 280x has 3GB of VRAM, like the 280, both of them are rebrands of the 7970 and the 7950 respectively. The 2GB card was the R9 285 that had a Tonga GPU, which was later rebranded as the R9 380.

The 7970ghz/280x is a faster card and will perform better in DX12 games moving forward.
