Does it sound like my hard drive is dying or is this normal?

Solution
You may have a bad harddrive if

Youve cleaned your system and your OS is extremely slow
You have intermitent blue screens
OS does not even boot up
Excessive clicking noises
You find that your read and write times have decreases substantially

You can use the command chkdsk to see if there are any errors within your filesystem that can be fixed
you can use testdisk to check health :http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk

all in all though the louder noises from your HD sound like the disk is running at higher RPMs which is normal when under load or doing a read or write.

If you are worried back up your system!
