Processor - Intel i3 2.93 GHz 530
RAM - 4 GB
HDD - 500 GB

Please tell me which would be best whether 32 bit or 64 bit ?

Solution

The only time you should consider running a 32-bit system is on old hardware that is NOT capable of running 64-bit software. There is no performance difference that negatively affect 64-bit hardware.

This depends. If you are going to play games go with windows 7 or 10 there are still alot of games that are not compatible with linux

If you are computer savvy and a fast learner, download ubunu or elementary they have easy to use GUI's. You can download a number of tools to do homework and other buisness related things, you can also watch movies and music with the built in players that are in my opinion better than windows in many ways.

Ah, my apologies, according to your processor's instruction set capabilities you can run 64bit OS which I would recommend as well because then you can run more than 4GB of ram if your MOBO allows it!

Even my 8 years old Lenovo X200T runs 64bit OS...no reason to sticking with 32bit with your CPU. Honestly, why does windows even bother with 32bit versions anymore? The only viable option for really old hardware would still be Linux :D

Go with 64 ;)
