Building a PC, and planning on using an Xeon processor. Originally was going to use a 1231, but see that the 1220 is over 20% less. Differences seem to be operating frequency and Hyper-Threading. Should I pay the extra money, and if so, why?

If you are serious with video editing or you use it for work, you should invest in the i7. The E3-1231 V3 is one option as it is currently cheaper to buy than a Haswell i7 but you do not get integrated graphics. If you are not using a discrete graphic card, then get the i7 instead then.

Thanks Suztera, Considering I don't know what ECC is, guess I don't need it. The PC will be used for some video and image editing and a little gaming. You think the i5 4460 is the way to go? I was planning on using the ASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard with
Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory if I went with the Xeon. Still good choices? Thanks
