What will happen if I plug in two different cards in two different slots on the same motherboard?
Will only one work? Will both work? Will they support each others capabilities?

They will bot work, but they will be independent - produce separate outputs. Windows can utilize them to spread your desktop across 2 screens, but you would only be able to use one for gaming.
