Ok, I'm posting on the behalf of a friend here,

We recently upgraded his PC with a new GPU, RAM, PSU and case.

Here are his specs:

i7 3770K
8GB DDR3 G.Skill Ripjaws
ASUS GTX 960 4GB STRIX
Seagate 1TB HDD
Intel Desktop Board (DH77EB)
Antec VP 500W PSU
Antec GX505 Case

Previous components:
No-name Case and PSU
Nvidia GT 630
4GB RAM (Brand unknown)

We shifted everything over to the new case and then booted it up. The BIOS screen flashed up and there were 3 beeps after which it loaded a Black Screen with a flashing cursor.

We replaced every single component with its previous counterpart and we singled out the GPU as the problem. The older 630 worked perfectly fine with the newer stuff but as soon as we popped in the 960 the black screen issue returned. We double checked the RAM and PSU and they worked perfectly fine.

He's updating his BIOS right now, but im posting this here to see if the issue lies somewhere else.
I will update this as soon as I hear the results of his BIOS update.

Thanks in advance :)

I would NOT update the bios unless it fixes a problem you have.
A failed bios update can permanently brick your motherboard.

Since the previous graphics card worked, I think you are correct on the GTX960 being the culprit.
The card needs a 6 pin pcie power lead, you did plug that into the card I hope?

Otherwise, I think it is time for a rma of the new graphics card.

Yeah we plugged in the power connector, we aren't THAT bad.
BIOS update completed successfully and the result is the GPU isn't detected now.
He's decided to RMA the card as suggested, lets hope the replacement works...
Thank you for the help :)
