Well I have been having problems with my secondary hard drive (task manager says that it is at 100% usage when it is not doing anything), so I am currently running a chkdsk, and it is finding a lot of unreadable segments. I was just wondering if when it is done will I be able to use the hard drive again or is it trash and I have to buy a new one?

Hi there That Potato,

That is unpleasant. :(

My suggestion would be to start with just taking off the important data stored on the drive.

After that, you can attach it with different cables(SATA & power ones) to another SATA port. I've came across cases where this 100% disk usage was caused by faulty cables.

In case the issue persists, you can test the drive with some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
Observe the SMART report and look for pending/reallocated and uncorrectable sectors.

Let me know how this goes,
