Power Supply Eco mode on or off?

I just bought a EVGA G2 550W SuperNova and It has this eco mode feature and I am not sure if I should keep it on or off. I could care less for noise because it is much quieter than my previous CX750 that I returned. I just would like to know which one would be better for my power supply if I want it to last longer.

I don't even use ECO and I still don't hear the fan on mine , it's up to you.

Using it does extend the life of the fan.

My system has been crashing randomly when any 3D game has been played, spent ages ruling out components, conflicts, drivers, updated bios... only got stable again after I noticed eco mode was switched on and turned it off.

Allowing the psu to heat-up before kicking in cooling is not a good idea in my opinion.
