there is 3 types of this problem for me

1- Black screen for a couple of seconds then it comes back saying "display driver ...."
2- Black screen permanently and i have to restart pc for it to come back
3- Black screen then computer shuts down completely.

and the first type happens the most

so this problem happened to me like a year ago and some computer place somehow fixed it for me and i don't know how .. but anyways

now after like a year the problem came back .. maybe a bit more random it doesn't happen alot like it used to a year ago .. it happens sometimes 3 times in an hour or 1 time in 6 hours

------

things i tried :

1- Updating nvidia drivers
2- rolling back nvidia drivers
3- going into safe mode and uninstalling drivers and reinstalling different ones
4- the QWORD fix in the regedit
5- the fix in nvidia control panel > 3d settings change from adaptive to prefer maximum performance
6- change to high performance in power options
7- ran virus scans
8- ran malware scans

------

and there is a lot of other fixes i've tried .. and i'm honestly tired of it .. i'm willing to pay for a new piece of hardware but i came here to make sure i know what that piece is .

now my question is .. will replacing my PSU fix this ?

or is it my GPU ?

-----

PC specs :

MB : asrock z77 extreme9
GPU : gigabyte geforce gtx 680 2gb
CPU : intel core i7-3770k 3.5 GHZ
PSU: Corsair CX750
RAM : vengance 8gb (2*4)

-----

GPU Core temperature right now : 35-40 C
GPU Core temperature after the black screen : (i'll update you with it once i check it)

-----

i don't care if i have to buy a new PSU .. just give me the green light please.

It could be the PSU, Corsair CX series are not the best unit's, not designed to power gaming rigs 24/7 this is why they are so cheap, however this could also just be your 680 showing signs of dying.

Have a different PC or anyone else you know with one you can swap parts and test with?

Very strange the PC shocking you, sounds like it is not grounded?
I have no experience with this but is it possible that your motherboard is touching the case?
Something shorting inside the PC?
Tried rebuilding your rig from scratch?

aaah .. i kinda don't know shit about computers man .. i didn't build the pc myself so i don't know

but it all comes down to whether the shocking has anything to do with the black screen

googled the shocking and some say its not a big deal so i don't know.

i replaced the extension cord anyway .. we'll see if it helps both problems

until then i'm waiting for more people to give me their thoughts about the questions that i had in the post

apparently when i put sandals on there is no shocks anymore .. so i guess this is not a problem with the hardware ?

anyways if its not then lets get back into the main problem

"display driver stopped responding and has recovered"

its like 3-4 years old .. but like i said i don't really mind replacing it .. i just want to make sure its the piece that is causing the problem.

please can someone confirm that my psu is the problem here ? i mean i feel like the display thing and the shocks connect together it might be it after all.

is there a way that someone clueless about computers like me can do to actually look inside the psu and maybe see if its leaking electricity or something.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-psus,4229.html

can you confirm anything from here works with my specs ? is there anyone of those PSUs i should stay away from ?

the reason i'm asking you is because in my city there isn't really a variety of hardware options .. so things like the corsair PSUs i'm probably gonna find .. but i'm not sure about the ones you mentioned .. so if you can confirm that all the PSUs in the link are good then most likely i'm gonna find one.

and if you can recommend more PSUs that'd be awesome.
