Good afternoon guys,

Just purchased a brand new Corsair H100i V2 from Newegg. Right when I installed it I noticed it was idling around 40 which is kind of high. I had a H90 in my old rig and I was idling around 29 and that one was a 140mm Rad. Today I took it off reapplied some thermal paste and bam nothing still idling around 40. Check the mounts to see if they were installed correctly and still the same. I did a stress test on both intel extreme and Aida64 and the max it ever hit was 62 which is pretty good but im a little concerned with it idling at 40.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

1| Did you follow through with the instructions outlined in your manual with the pump connecting to your CPU_Fan header on your motherboard while the fans are connected to the daisy chain cable from the pump??
2| Your temps will be affected by your ambient temps so my question is what were your ambient temps when you were on your H90 cooler since a slight temp drop from your previous installation is to be expected due to a slight increase in heat dissipation surface area.
3| The fact that the temps never go above 69 when under stress indicates that your cooler is functioning but it doesn't say to what degree it's working. TIM application should always be pea sized+what TIM did you sue for your reapplication?

-I followed the instructions to a "T"
-The temperature when I had my H90 was room temp probably around 72 degrees F.
-I did do a pea sized application

But, I did go around and searched average temps for the h100i and everyone seems to be around the same temp as I am. I just find it a little odd that the h90 would run cooler normal load compared to the h100i.

Kind of figured out why the cooler was sitting at 40degrees, I called corsair and they basically told me that since the 5820k has a high TDP plus I was overclocked at 4.6 that's why the temp was sitting that high. But when I lowered back to the stock speed the cooler was sitting around 29degrees.
