I have an old Hitachi 5K250-120 laptop hard drive, which I try to use as an external hard drive but I'm having a hard time trying to fix my problem.

My hard drive is working because I just install another OS into it, my enclosure is also working because it works on my friends PC with my hard drive on it, but everytime I try to plug the enclosure into my laptop it won't work. The light from enclosure is working and the hard drive is spinning. My laptop only recognize the enclosure once where I format my hard drive and install an OS.

I tried to check it on disk management and it shows and recognize, its NOT UNALLOCATED but as I say my hard drive won't show up on 'My PC'.

Solution
if u want to use it as an external storage drive, then u have to format it...it wont show up in my computer until u format it and assign a drive letter...
if u want to boot into linux which is installed on it, then u have to change the boot priority from BIOS...

I can't see any drive letter assigned since windows can't recognize it. I've researched some forums and I think windows OS can't read any drives with Linux or any other OS installed into it, but still I want to use my hard drive as external hdd and linux installed into it, can it happen ?
