I have a ssd with windows 7 and all the other programs with it. But how can i use the hdd i have that has windows vista installed in it but be able to use both of them.

Solution

Wipe the HDD completely. Get rid of the OS and whatever else is on it.
Use it for stuff that does not fit within the SSD, or does not benefit from the speed of the SSD.

Takes some work to clean up the second drive likely. I think the most common setup currently is still to have an ssd boot drive that has mainly the OS on it and then to have second drives setup mostly to store your games and photos etc. It might be as easy as taking vista off of the hdd because unless there is some reason you want to keep that, you don't want anything getting confused about which operating system you are using. I think there was a time that I did keep my hdd with vista on it while I was transitioning over to 7 on my ssd, but I never really had any use for the dual boot option. You just need to make sure that in your bios, you have the ssd with 7 on it set to boot first instead of the hdd with vista on it.
