How Is This Build For 1440p Gaming?

I am building a 1440p (preferably) gaming PC. I play FPS games as well as open world and RPG games and that is why I am going for a 1440p 144hz monitor. I just hope the 980 Ti will be able to handle all those pixels. I plan to overclock the i5 to 4.4ghz. Also, there is a notification on pc part picker that says that because the GPU is too long, some drive bays may be unusable. Aren't drive bays just for DVDs and such? If they are, why would it be a problem because the P400S doesn't even have options for an optical bay? Not much else to say. How is the build? Any suggestions for improvements? Thanks!
(~$2000 budget)

A 980Ti will run 1440p just fine. And when it can't that's when GSync kicks in and keeps it good.

At that price get at minimum an Evga G2 PSU.

Drive cages are for your hard drives. Drive bays are for the CD-Roms. 3.5" drive cages and 5.25" drive bays. Most cases have removable drive cages to make room for liquid cooling.

Instead of taking the drive cages out and not using them, take a look at the Fractal Design Define S. Same case as the $150 R5 but they don't include the drive cages and sell it for $75. It's a wicked case for liquid cooling. And you don't need drive cages because you can install 2 drives behind the motherboard tray.

Also an I5 and 8GB of RAM would be plenty for gaming. You could put the savings into the...
The case has some optional hard drive brackets that, when installed, reduce the clearance for a GPU to 280mm from 395mm without the brackets. The build looks fine but the Supernova NEX power supply is not too good. I recommend you trade it for the Supernova G2 model made by Super Flower.

Check out the Steel Series Rival 300 mouse. It's better than the 502 at the same price.
