So I installed Ubuntu 16.04 on VMware which has an extremely bad lagg on simple things such as opening terminal and moving windows around. Performed troubleshooting and found out my integrated ATI Radeon 3000 graphics are not supported in Ubuntu 16.04 anymore which has been causing the problem. Stuck with Ubuntu 12 on the desktop now as that seems to be the last version support those graphics.
Tried installing 16.04 on my intel laptop and works fine with that.
Now my question is, if I were to buy a dedicated gaming graphics card (say R9 270x/Gtx660) and power my monitors with that, will ubuntu be able to use those graphics card and solve my problem? Or do operating systems require only integrated graphics?
