My USB 3.0 slot isn't working

I built a new PC and everything works except the USB 3.0 slot on the front. The USB 2.0 slot right beside it does work.

I plugged the big blue cable into the 3.0 slot on my mobo. But they are a normal USB 2.0 connector attached to the thick blue cable. Do I need to plug them both in?

Anyone have any ideas? I've tried 2 different 3.0 external hard drives and flash drives. The light comes on like they get power but nothing else

You may need drivers for USB3. Don't plug in that "normal USB 2. in at same time as USB3. That came with the case and is used to make front USB ports to work with MBs that do not have USB3.

have a look at the specs of your mobo if you got usb3, has your mobo some secrets, so you don't tell nobody which one it is?
