The i5 6500 feels like more bang for my buck, but when it comes down to choosing the motherboard, I'm all ears.
Amazon automatically puts a H110 chipset motherboard on frequently bought together but how can a z170 processor run on a H110 motherboard?
If so, on which motherboard's chipsets will my processor run? Because a z170 chipset motherboard costs around 10k rupees, other variants like H, B, Q, if you say are supported, will dramatically lower my bill.
Also, a normal desktop pc cabinet supports only ATX form factor no?

If a z170 processor runs on H170, will it run on H110 also?
I'm not that into overclocking.
Enlighten me.

Solution
i5-6500 is not a Z170 processor.

i5-6500 is a LGA1151 CPU thus it is compatible with any motherboard that is LGA1151 socket.

LGA1151 motherboard have different chipsets: H110, B150, H170, and Z170, higher end chipsets are chosen for their feautures and the Z170 chipset for its ability to overclock, but i5-6500 will work with any of those no problem. Just pick a good quality board.

To say short, if the motherboard is LGA1151, i5-6500 will work.

Only the Z170 has overclocking officially. The i5 6500 is a LGA1151 socket, you need a LGA1151 socket motherboard for it. That processor is locked, so you cannot overclock it. So getting a Z170 is not needed, a H170, H110 motherboard will be good. I'm from India too. What is your budget for the PC?
