my ''gigabit connection'' only transfers files at 90mbps?

I ran the lanspeed test and I only got 90mbps which is absurd as I have set up my gigabit connection. I connected both of the computers to the gigabit switch [TP-LINK SG1008d] and I ran the test. http://prntscr.com/az0u8r
The wires are cat 5e so shouldnt I be expecting more than 90mbps?
Any help is appreciated, this is very frustrating as I expected it would at least be 900mbps or something. thank you

Partially, yes.
And 'performance' depends on the slowest device in the chain. It appears they are just seeing how long it takes to write and read a 20 megabyte file, and extrapolating network 'speed' from that.

For instance, this is the results from 2 different drive on another system on my house LAN:

An internal HDD:

Same system, same LAN and cable, 2 different drives and connection types. Wildly different results.

That tool seems to be highly flawed.
It writes a file to the other system, and as such, the actual drive speed is part of the equation.

Also, read the help file under "(?) Results"
