Hello,

Since one day with no apparent reason, I restarted my pc and it got stuck on the black screen with blinking cursor, so I formatted the SSD and installed windows from 0, went fine for like 3 days and then "sometimes" it starts normally, sometimes it gets stuck on the blinking cursor screen, I thought that my SSD was kinda broken, I plugged it in to my laptop and it started 10/10 times fine, after this I removed the battery of the motherboard to reset the BIOS to discard any configurations, still the same, it will boot up like 1/30 times I try, and if I'm in windows and I reboot the pc it's also a lottery of booting or not, I checked cables, tried different ones, plugin them in different SATA ports, tried different PSU connections, and still the drama of will it boot?, so I don't really know what to do, and I do not want to buy a new PSU and be the motherboard, etc.

My knowledge of computers has come to a dead end, that's why I ask for help, so... any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

TL;DR
-PC will sometimes boot, sometimes will blackscreen blinking cursor.
-Formatted the SSD and installed from 0, same issue.
-Tried the SSD in other pc's work 100% fine.
-Tried different cables/slots where to plug it still not work.
-Removed motherboard battery to reset bios, still a 1/30 chances of normal boot.
-Bios detects the SSD fine every time but as always 1/30 chances to boot.
-If it succeeds to boot and I restart it may or may not boot as well.
-Unplugged every single device, stills the same.

What version of windows are you running? I think its something about the boot method but I could be wrong,

What are the specs of the machine?

Have you checked motherboard makers web site for a new bios?

Lastes version of Windows 10.

The pc has:

-600W PSU
-1155 socket i5 2500k-
-AMD HD 7700
-Asus p8h61-MX
-Crucial M4 SSD
-4GB RAM

I just tried to upgrade the bios from the ez flash tool and it gives me an error, so if I can boot the pc I will try to upgrade it from windows.

I wonder if bios is set to boot using legacy or UEFI boot method.
Look on page 2-26 of the manual (see: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1155/P8H61-MX_R2.0/E7380_P8H61_MX-R2-USB3_Series.pdf) and under the advanced settings/boot tab you will find a choice of 3 things (see 2.7.6)
UEfi and Legacy
Disable UEFI
Disable Legacy

You should choose top just in case but if you fresh installed win 10 it should be using UEFI to boot.

what model psu is it BTW?

It's a B-MOVE - bm-ps05 600W, my BIOS doesn't has the UEFI/LEGACY option under boot, I don't know if because of an older version of BIOS, but it's not the same as the manual, I'm going to take some pictures so you can see.

Well, I managed to upgrade the BIOS, and now starts 10/10 times fine, it was almost driving me insane, but a 3mb update solved it I guess, thank you very much Colif.

Yeah that's why I had a problem upgrading the BIOS I don't have an Asus P8H61-MX, I have a P8H61-MX USB3 thanks god it didn't allow me to flash the rom, I guess it would have been a brick.

And for the PSU it seems to be a Spanish brand ( trash brand ), I had a 110€ PSU before but it died in less than a year so I took the cheap way, wrong choice for sure, I will reconsider changing the PSU.

And again, thank you very much
