Hello all, so I have a somewhat crappy netbook I will be trading for a second hand 120gb ssd since I got a hard drive for the thing finally, and aside from checking the smart data with hard disk sentinel, I'm curious as to what other utilities/tests I should run to check if it's still in good nick before making the trade.

It will be my first ssd, so I figure I should make sure it's actually good, and it is essentially free.

I'm not 100% sure if it's the same guy as advertising on another ad, but if it is, it seems it would be one of the toshiba ones from apple computers, THNS128GG4BBAA

Edit: alright, got the model number, it's a crucial ct128m4ssd2

Yeah, just pulled that and amazon up, to look through some of the reviews, I'm glad it's a different one as the other would have been a pull from an apple laptop

Actually, the SMART parameters will give you everything you need to know. Probably the most important numbers:

Power On Hours (how many hours it's been in operation)
SSD Wear Leveling Count (highest erasure count on any block, lower is better)
Erase Fail Count (times any block failed to erase).

Saw which one it was (Crucial 128GB M4) - very solid drives, I have several in my servers and they've been problem free for years.

Alright, as I mentioned, first time messing with an ssd, aside from installing windows on one several years ago. Might put it in my server, or in my zalman case to speed up windows installs. Hopefully hard disk sentinel can read out that stuff (I'm sure it can)
