I have an external desktop microphone plugged into the front microphone port on my pc. It worked fine until a recent thunder storm, in which my power surged. My PC is fine, but the mic doesn't seem to be working. I don't have a dedicated sound card: I've tried reinstalling/updating my motherboard audio drivers, disabling and reenabling the microphone, and plugging it into the back port. I'd say it was a hardware problem, but whenever I press the button to turn it on, it detects the noise. Any ideas?
