I have a GPU: g1 gaming 980ti and a Monitor: Acer GN246HL 24" 1ms 144Hz. I installed new case fans last week, (I disconnected all cables from my computer and monitor) when i booted up my custom built pc I started to have the issue where the error sign on my monitor would appear saying "incorrect cable. Please use the dual link DVI cable that came with your monitor" . Ive been running my computer on 120hz ever since i built it, and now its all pixeled and in order to view my display correctly i have to change the refresh rate to 60hz. I contacted Acer and they sent me a new DVI-D cable and i tried it and this error still occurs. I have all the latest drivers. What can be the possible issue?

I havent tried any other port because all the other ports would obviously be for 60 hz and the issue only occurs when refresh rate is set above 60 hz. and DVI d is for above 60 hz so the issue is something else. and I have no idea. The HDMI port of the monitor is connected to my ps4 and ps4 runs at 60 hz so there is no issue with that.
