we installed a new hard drive on a toshiba laptop. got told we had to get a windows 7 cd for new installation. BIOS recognizes new hard drive but when trying to install windows it stays stuck on screen saying "starting windows". What do we do? Tried several times to restart the process but same thing happens.

Solution
Hi there Nanarenee2001,

How long does it stay like that? It may be a good idea to wait for a while.

If you don't have data on the drive, you can just partition and format the drive before the installation process.

Here's how:
- Once you are in Windows setup, press shift+F10 to bring up the command line.
- diskpart [enter]
- list disk [enter]
- select drive [number] [enter]
- clean all [enter]
- create partition primary [enter]
- select partition 1 [enter]
- active [enter]
- format fs=ntfs [enter]
- assign [enter]
- exit [enter]
- exit [enter]

Hope this will help,
