Hey all,
I am replacing my AMD Phenom II X4 965 with an AMD FX-8350. My motherboard is the Asus M4A89GTD Pro/USB3. The AMD FX-8350 is not listed as supported on the Asus website but there have been numerous posts of people who have gotten this to work by simply updating their BIOS.
When I installed the FX-8350 and went to power up my computer, nothing happened on my monitor. The computer powered on but there was no sign of anything working on my monitor. I could not access my BIOS either. I swapped back the processors and tried updating my chipset drivers, reset my CMOS, I also tried changing the version of my BIOS from 3030 to 3029. From what I have seen, both versions seem to work with this CPU. I am really just trying anything I can think of, I am not the best with this stuff so I am unsure if these would even make a difference for this kind of issue.
I also replaced my old HDD as it was 7 years old and so I reinstalled windows 7 at the same time. I did all the updates but more and more keep popping up as the days go by. I have not tried putting the FX-8350 back in since Saturday when I thought most of the updates were complete. Then on Sunday night, I was prompted to update 232 important updates for Windows. Would this make a difference? Is it worth swapping them again or would this have nothing to do with it?
Before I try to return the FX-8350, I want to try see if I can get any answers because it would be a nice upgrade and would do a much better job at keeping up with my GTX 960.
Thanks
