Hi,

I have been having trouble with my pc ever since I installed a new cpu cooler. The computer starts up for about 5-7 seconds and then shuts down again repeatedly. There are two bios lights on the motherboard bbios and mbios. So one startup the mbios light will be solid and just before it shutsdown (after about 5 seconds) the bbios light blinks. Then the next startup bbios will be solid and mbios blinks. While this is happening there is no beeping and no display.

Also when I move the sb switch on the motherboard to position 2 it stays on for longer but there is still no display and no beeping. Maybe the fact that it stays on until I turn it off while the sb switch is in position 2 means that the board is not short circuiting and something else is happening here.
I was wondering if my motherboard bios needs to be flashed because on the cpu support list there is F3, F5 and F8. My processor is listed as F5.

I have tried removing ram, graphics card, cmos battery, cpu, reset button and even pressing the cmos and reset buttons but nothing changes.

I am thinking of handing it to a computer repair person who can test the cpu and motherboard for me.

Hope this makes sense, any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Let me know what you think, here are my specs:

Cpu: i7-4790k
Mobo: Gigabyte z97x gaming g1 bk wifi
Cooler: be quiet dark rock 3
Ram: 2x 8gb corsair vengance 2400mhz
Gpu: NVidia 650 ti boost
Psu: corsair cx750m
Os: Windows 10 64bit

Thanks

Ok, thanks. I have tried this a couple of times already but i will give it another try. I will let you know how it goes.

Ok, i tried reinstalling the cpu and cooler again but it still does the same thing. I have had this problem for a few days now and have followed lots of advice i found on the internet about this issue. So i have decided that it's time to hand it in to a computer repairs person who can look it for me.

Thank you for your reply.
