Cable connection question

Hi, this question came to my mind when I was connecting PCIe cables to my graphics card. Is it possible to connect separate PCIe cables to a graphics card instead of using a serial one? So in my case, my gpu has 8 + 6 slots, and instead of using a single cable that has 8 + 8 (the second one is 6 + 2 pins) connector, can I instead use one cable that has 8 pins, and another cable that has 6 + 2 pins (because I want to take out the 2 pins), so that it looks more appealing, like I saw from the image of other people have in their builds, like this one for example https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OmAVcPD4vQk/maxresdefault.jpg.

Yes. Actually the PSU I brought didn't include any 6 pin PCIe cables, all are either dual or single 8 pins (including 6 + 2) connectors, so my plan is to use a single 8 pins and on the other 8 ping (6 + 2), I will be removing the extra 2 pins. So thanks for answering this!

I wouldn't recommend removing the extra two pins, for safety reasons. Also, you may need them in the future with a new GPU.

But those extra 2 pins will just hang there and doing nothing anyway. The cables that came with PSU and aftermarket cables I brought from CableMod, none has a single 6 pin connector, and I would really like to not have the extra 2 pin visible. :( Can you suggest any alternatives? Or how do people usually achieve this in their builds?

I'm not sure what to suggest, most people just leave it hanging or hide it behind the cable itself. What PSU do you have?
