Not even close Intel i5 4590, is the winner.

In single-threaded applications, the CPU is about 68% faster.
Multi-threaded performance of the microprocessor is better.
The Intel i5-4590 performs 4% faster in memory-intensive programs.
Graphics performance of the Intel Core i5-4590 CPU is higher.
The Core i5-4590 incorporates AVX2 instructions. Although these extensions are not extensively used in applications yet, their support should improve in future apps.
The microprocessor features on-chip HD 4600 GPU. This GPU replaces low-end graphics card, and thus lowers the cost of the system.
Power consumption of the processor is lower.

FX-6300 is not close to i5-4590. There is plenty of information availiable on the web on why this is so I'll keep it short:
- Newer architecture
- Much stronger single core power
- More efficient and runs cooler

For gaming solely, you want a Quad-Core Intel i5 if the budget is there.

Boot times will depend on your storage; HDD or SSD. Irrelevant to your CPU. If you want fast boot times then you want an SSD. For gaming it would improve your performance a lot.

Normal day to day tasks won't really be any different, if anything programs may load slightly snappier due to lower CPU latency on the i5, though i am unsure you will even perceive it.

For gaming the i5 has solid core performance and will dominate in CPU limited titles vs that 6300.
