Right now I have a (underperforming, since the the thermal sensor is broken and it thermal throttles all the time) FX6300.

I want to make the switch to Intel, but I dont know which one to pick. A Core i5, or a Xeon?

Paired with my GTX 750ti (upgrading soon to a GTX960) I want my new build to be a good gaming machine, but also a workstation (doesn't have to be a killer Workstation, since I'm only a programmer).

My budget: €300 (for CPU & mobo)

Current specs:
FX6300
MSI GM-P23(FX)
Geforce GTX750ti
XFX TS450 450 watt PSU
8 gigs ram

Side note: All parts must be available in the Netherlands, and can be ordered with IDeaL. (Preferably on www.afuture.nl)

if I save enough, I will upgrade to 16 gigs Crucial Ballistix ram.

Solution
ok out of those the i5 4590 will be the most powerful for gaming and workstation tasks by quite abit. after that the 4460. the xeon 1220 v3 is about the same for gaming as the 6400 and the 2603 isnt even worth considering for this. are their any other xeons avalible? used xeons are ok to buy.
